Titanic Quarter, Belfast - Protech GM Super & Provoid Gas Venting SystemTitanic Quarter, Belfast, Protech GM Super, Provoid Venting System

A. Proctor Group have recently provided a gas protection system to Europe’s largest and most exciting waterfront development.

The headquarters of  PRONI – The Public Records of Northern Ireland - is being constructed in a new development near River Lagan in Belfast, named the Titanic Quarter.  Harcourt Construction are the main contractors onsite.  Due to the presence of ground gas, a robust system was required in order to protect the building which house irreplaceable archived materials.

The historic site – original home to the famous Haarland and Wolf Boatbuilders – was where vessels such as RMS Titanic and SS Canberra were launched and is being regenerated to provide major social and business facilities.

Protech Super 871, was utilised as the gas resistant membrane, along with Provoid 25 which provides a venting layer below.  These, along with ancillaries such as gas resistant DPC, tapes, Protech AGM and Top Hats, all form part of a designed solution to the problem of protecting the buildings from the ingress of gas.

Protech Super 871 is a reinforced polyethylene membrane which is resistant to damp, Carbon Dioxide, Radon, Methane and Hydrocarbon vapours. The specifier has the added comfort of knowing that this membrane has been independently tested and carries a BRE certificate.

A. Proctor Group provide a gas design service and have an in-house technical department available to answer queries regarding gas protection and design.
