Product Description

Protech GM Super Gas Membrane is a reinforced LDPE, loose - laid, gas barrier that incorporates an aluminium foil layer to provide maximum protection from the ingress of Methane, Carbon Dioxide and Radon in new developments. The membrane is fully compliant with the recommendations made in Ciria 665, BS8485 and The Local Authority Ground Gas Handbook when installed in accordance with BRE 414.

Protech GM Super is a high performance proprietary reinforced gas barrier that has been specifically designed to conform with the latest guidance documents. Due to its unique composition, the membrane is extremely robust and flexible and, as a result, easy to install on site. The membrane also provides protection from damp and, therefore, there is no need to install a separate DPM.

Protech GM HM Top Hat

Preformed top-hat section for sealing around pipe penetrations in the gas membrane. Available in standard sizes of 110/130/160mm to suit popular pipe diameters. Other sizes available upon request.

Protech GM+ Corner Units

Preformed internal and external corner sections allowing fast and accurate detailing of the membrane at perimeter corners. The corners come in one size and can be adjusted to suit larger or smaller corners on site with the use of Protech GM Flashing strip and a knife. Preformed Corner Units satisfy BS 8215, Design and Installation of DPCs, recommends that "3-dimensional shapes in DPC should be pre-fabricated" avoiding site fabrication. This helps make installation easier also when faced with independent validation.

Protech GM+ Starter Band

Perimeter edging strip, allowing faster installation of perimeter/edge details. Also replaces gas resistant DPC in GM+ or GM Super applications. Roll Dimensions: 1m x 50m.

Protech GM Primer

Primer for preparing substrates prior to the application of Protech SAGM, supplied in 5 litre tubs, and has a typical drying time of 2-6 hours. Cover rates are 6-8 m2/L on concrete and 12-15 m2/L on steel.

Protech GM Flashing Strip

Foil tape used for sealing around column penetrations and for repairs/patching of membranes damaged during installation. RollDimensions: 1.1 x 150mm x 10m or 1.1 x 300mm x 10m.

Protech SAGM (Self Adhesive Gas Membrane)

Self Adhesive Gas Membrane, comprising and aluminium/polyethylene laminate with a modified bitumen adhesive backing. Used to maintain gas membrane continuity on vertical surfaces and around complex penetrations and foundations. Roll Dimensions: 1m x 20m.

Provoid Venting System

25mm void former providing pathways for sub-slab ventilation. Ventilation with bespoke pipe arrangements designed on site specific basis.

Protech GM Tape

A 30mm x 30m double-sided, self-adhesive, cross linked butyl sealing and bonding strip.

Step 1

Roll out Protech GM Super Gas Membrane and apply Protech GM double-sided sealing tape 50mm from edge of Protech GM Super Gas Membrane as shown below. Run a stiff brush down the Protech GM double-sided sealing tape to ensure it is well adhered to Protech GM Super Gas Membrane.

Step 2

Roll out next sheet of Protech Super GM Gas Membrane maintaining a minimum 150mm overlap with bottom sheet.

Step 3

Starting at one end of the run of membrane, pull back the corner of the top sheet of the Protech GM Super Gas Membrane to expose the Protech GM double-sided sealing tape. Pick the release paper from the top of the Protech GM double-sided sealing tape and pull the release paper away from the Protech GM double-sided tape whilst walking down the length of the Protech GM Super Gas Membrane to be jointed.

Step 4

To complete the joint, apply firm pressure with a stiff brush to the joint as shown opposite, to ensure that any trapped air escapes and the two sheets of Protech GM Super are firmly adhered and well sealed.
