Reflectatherm Plus from the A. Proctor Group Ltd has been chosen as a high performance reflective, vapour resistant membrane to protect the homes in a new £9.5 million housing development in Dundee.
The project by Dundee City Council and Hillcrest Housing Association, involves the construction of 81 new houses at Alexander Street.
The use of Reflectatherm Plus significantly reduces the risks of condensation, by providing high levels of vapour resistance for the housing stock.
Reflectatherm Plus provides a vapour tight layer, which restricts the passage of water vapour, combined with a heat reflecting low emissivity coating, designed to enhance the energy performance of the building envelope. It has long been recognised that the correct management of moisture vapour within buildings is an important aspect of ensuring the longevity of not only the building fabric, but also the health of the occupants.
Future residents of the new development will also benefit from enhanced soundproofing thanks to the installation of a high quality acoustic flooring solution. The unique dual foam structure of the battens provides effective isolation of the floor finish from the structure, reducing sound transmission.
