Brae Hotel, Shetland - maibec Timber Cladding

Brae Hotel, Shetlands

The Brae Hotel in Brae, Shetland has recently undergone a facelift, with the addition of over 600m2 of Maibec Timber Cladding from the A. Proctor Group.

Atkins Architects, in Glasgow specified Maibec due to the owners’ request for a beautiful timber cladding with low maintenance requirements.  As the Sheltand Islands are in a remote and exposed location, the warranties available on this product were extremely important to the clients.

Maibec is a natural softwood timber, with an unrivalled 50 year warranty against rot and decay, and an 18 year warranty against peeling and blistering of the stained finish.  This 18 year warranty can be extended by a further 15 years provided the timber is re-coated within the original 18 year period.

There are extensive benefits to using Maibec timber cladding, including a proven history of the product. Along with the remarkable warranties, low maintenance and lifecycle cost mean that architects can specify this product with the confidence that the cladding will look amazing for years to come.

Maibec is easy to install, using established methods - a benefit that Irvine Contractors of Lerwick welcomed when they installed the cladding.

Maibec is available in 6 standard colours, however most other colours can be matched if required.  Pepperwood was the colour of choice for the Brae Hotel and this was supplied in a Cove profile.
