A. Proctor Group, in conjunction with Aire Valley Homes, Leeds City Council and exclusive CERT funding partner British Gas, conducted a pilot project at Recreation Row in Leeds. This installation, conducted in partnership with Connaught, the UK’s leading integrated service provider in the social housing sector, served as a practical demonstration of the benefits of the Spacetherm® F in solid wall applications.
Working closely with technical partners Hilti and Fermacell, the Perthshire based A. Proctor Group installed 54 square metres of Spacetherm® F18 high performance dry lining laminate onto the existing 1900’s, 9 inch solid brick walls, improving the calculated u-value from around 2.1 W/m²K to 0.55 W/m²K, whilst increasing the overall wall thickness by only 28mm, thus allowing the property to achieve a far improved energy performance rating without a dramatic loss of internal space.
The unique high performance aerogel insulation (with a k-factor of 0.013W/mK) used in Spacetherm® F panels, combined with the robustness and durability of Fermacell gypsum board and the speed and flexibility of the Hilti direct fix method, allows properties to be upgraded speedily and with minimum inconvenience to occupiers.
The energy savings resulting from the dramatically improved thermal performance of the envelope and the advantages to occupier comfort of the warmer internal surfaces will not only improve the day to day lives of the tenants of Aire Valley Homes, but will also make a significant contribution to progress meeting the Decent Homes standard and the Governments CERT commitment.
The success of this pilot project also paves the way for British Gas to roll out their exclusive CERT funding package for Spacetherm® F insulation systems across the country, helping to ensure a brighter and easier future for thousands of tenants and specifiers in all areas of the UK.
Please note that as of February 2009 we will be working with 5mm and 10mm aerogel not 3, 6mm and 9mm.
