Isadore Avenue, Belfast - Spacetherm F
A. Proctor Group partnered NIE Energy and DCI Energy in a pilot scheme carried out at Isadore Avenue, Belfast.
The purpose of the scheme was to look at methods of insulating and improving the thermal performance of hard to treat homes in Northern Ireland.
The parties involved were interested in methods and solutions for treating these hard to treat properties. They carried out the pilot scheme withthe assistance and knowledge of A. Proctor Group installers. The assistance provided has enabled the specifiers to gain confi dence in the Spacetherm® F system, as well as providing them with an increased knowledge of the product, including installation details, and the fl exibility of the product.
NIE Energy and DCI Energy were delighted
with the thermal improvement of the solid brick walls, from a calculated U value of around 1.44 W/m2K to a calculated performance of around 0.49 W/m2K.
The pilot scheme helped to answer some of the queries that had arisen from meetings and other case studies carried out using Spacetherm® F. The scheme showed the strengths of not only the Spacetherm® insulation, but also those provided by the Fermacell board.
The unique high performance aerogel insulation (k factor of 0.013W/mK) used in Spacetherm® F boards, along with the robustness and durability of Fermacell gypsum board and the flexibility of the mechanical fixing, allowed the property to be upgraded speedily and with minimum disruption and inconvenience to the occupier.
It is hoped that this pilot scheme in Belfast will lead to an increase in joint ventures between NIE Energy and DCI Energy in further projects to improve the thermal performance of hard to treat properties, quickly and easily utilising Spacetherm® F.
