Protech GM HM

Product Description

Protech GM HM Membrane is a modified HDPE, loose - laid, gas barrier that provides maximum protection from the ingress of Hydrocarbon liquids and vapours, VOC Contaminants, Methane, Carbon Dioxide and Radon into new deveopments.  The membrane is fully compliant with the recommendations made in Ciria 665, BS8485 and 'The Local Authority Ground Gas Handbook' when installed in accordance with BRE 414.

Protech GM Top Hat

Protech GM HM Top Hat

Preformed top-hat section for sealing around pipe penetrations in the gas membrane.  Available in standard sizes of 110/130/160mm to suit popular pipe diameters.  Other sizes available upon request.

Protech GM+ Corner Units

Protech GM+ Corner Units

Preformed internal and external corner sections allowing fast and accurate detailing of the membrane at perimeter corners.  The corners come in one size and can be adjusted to suit larger or smaller corners on site with the use of Protech GM Flashing strip and a knife.  Preformed Corner Units satisfy BS 8215, Design and Installation of DPCs, recommends that "3-dimensional shapes in DPC should be pre-fabricated" avoiding site fabrication.  This helps make installation easier also when faced with independent validation.

Protech GM Flashing Strip

Protech GM Flashing Strip

Foil tape used for sealing around column penetrations and for repairs/patching of membranes damaged during installation.  RollDimensions:  1.1 x 150mm x 10m or 1.1 x 300mm x 10m.

Protech GM Primer

Protech GM Primer

Primer for preparing substrates prior to the application of Protech SAGM, supplied in 5 litre tubs, and has a typical drying time of 2-6 hours.  Cover rates are 6-8 m2/L on concrete and 12-15 m2/L on steel.

Protech SAGM (Self Adhesive Gas Membrane)

Protech SAGM (Self Adhesive Gas Membrane)

Self Adhesive Gas Membrane, comprising and aluminium/polyethylene laminate with a modified bitumen adhesive backing.  Used to maintain gas membrane continuity on vertical surfaces and around complex penetrations and foundations.   Roll Dimensions:  1m x 20m.

Protech GR DPC

Protech GR DPC

Our gas resistant DPC is supplied in 600mm x 20m rolls and should be used to ensure a gas tight seal through all masonry and load bearing walls.

Provoid Venting System

Provoid Venting System

25mm void former providing pathways for sub-slab ventilation.  Ventilation with bespoke pipe arrangements designed on site specific basis.

Protech GM Tape

Protech GM Tape

A 30mm x 30m double-sided, self-adhesive, cross linked butyl sealing and bonding strip.

Step 1

Protech GM HM should be unrolled over the prepared ground or sub-floor which should be free from any sharp protrusions.  When the membrane is to be laid below the concrete slab, it should be loosely laid to accomodate any small movements.  Prior to the application of the Protech GM jointing tape, all surfaces must be dried thoroughly.  A strip of Protech GM tape (see seperate spec) , is unrolled over the membrane at its nearest edge 50 mm from the membrane edge.

Step 2

Remove protective paper from tape, prior to rolling adjacent run of membrane, which should be carefully unrolled over the jointing tape, ensuring a 150mm overlap.  Alternatively, the membrane may be welded; however, this should only be carried out by a competent specialist installer.

Step 3

In areas where the membrane crosses cavity walls or internal single skin walls, Protech GR-DPC should be used in conjunction with Protech GM HM Internal & External preformed corner units.

Pipe penetrations should be sealed with Protech GM Tophats or Protech GM Flashing Strips

Stanchions and columns should be sealed with Protech Bitumen Primer and Protech GM Flashing Strips.
